UTSI Electronics Ltd, the UK developer and manufacturer of Ground Penetrating Radar equipment, today announced plans to strengthen its product development, manufacturing capability and customer support following its recent acquisition.
The new owner plans to invest in the business, strengthen customer service and extend Utsi Electronics’ reach across UK and international utility-location markets. Utsi Electronics will continue operating from the UK with its existing team, customers and industry partners, while the new ownership provides a platform for product development and wider market engagement.
Central to the company’s growth plans is e-Safe, its underground utility-avoidance system designed to enable contractors to assess excavation risk before breaking ground so they can identify buried services, dig safely and reduce the risks of utility strikes.
e-Safe is designed to be used without specialist radar expertise or the need to interpret traditional radargrams. It provides a straightforward indication of potential underground hazards, helping users make better-informed decisions before breaking ground. The system can detect cables, pipes and other buried objects to a depth of approximately 1.5 metres, depending on ground conditions.
Ground Penetrating Radar can identify both conductive and non-conductive buried objects, including plastic pipes that may not be detected by electromagnetic cable locators. This makes e-Safe a valuable complement to conventional locating equipment and an additional safeguard for reducing excavation risk, avoidable delays and utility strikes.

Utsi Electronics will showcase e-Safe at UK No-Dig Live in Stoneleigh from 29 September to 1 October, and at the National Civils Show at ExCeL London on 25 and 26 November.
